Birding, particularly trying to get a decent photo of a bird often can be an uncomfortable if not outright dangerous activity.

From being in perilous locations, falling from heights, slipping over on rocks, sinking into quagmires, being ripped apart by vicious vegetation to suffering multiple bites from various insects and leeches or confrontations with snakes, charging bulls, wild pigs and the like to simply being hopelessly lost after stalking a bird through trackless wilderness.

Yes it's not easy this birding lark but to balance it out are days like this one where after a call from my good friend Roger Thompson my wife Michelle and I drove to his property near Toowoomba and relaxed in the shade of his patio, supping on cool drinks and enjoying a great barbecue lunch whilst waiting for the Musk Parrots to reappear.

And reappear they did, hence these photos taken under very comfortable conditions indeed. Thanks Roger.
